Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Pinch Split ("Pinch Split," "we," "our," or "us"), including our mobile application and website at pinchsplit.com. By downloading, accessing, or using Pinch Split, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

About Pinch Split

Pinch Split is a bill-splitting app that helps groups scan receipts, assign items to people, calculate fair totals (including tax and tip), and request payments. Pinch Split is a calculation and coordination tool — we do not process payments between users directly.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Pinch Split. If you are under 18, you may only use the service with permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using Pinch Split, you represent that you meet these requirements.

Accounts

You may use certain features without an account. When you create an account via Apple or Google Sign-In, you are responsible for:

• Providing accurate account information
• Maintaining the security of your device and sign-in credentials
• All activity that occurs under your account

You may delete your account at any time from within the app. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data after deletion.

Subscriptions and Launch Offer

Pinch Split offers free and paid tiers. During our launch period, the first 1,000 users who sign up may receive access to all Pro features at no charge. This launch offer is subject to change or end at any time without notice.

After the launch period, Pro features may require a paid subscription processed through Apple's App Store (or other authorized payment providers). Subscription pricing, billing cycles, and included features will be displayed in the app before purchase.

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date
• Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings
• Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with App Store policies
• We may change pricing or features with reasonable notice where required by law

Your Content

You retain ownership of content you submit to Pinch Split, including receipt images, expense data, and group information. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to store, process (including via third-party AI providers described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy), and display that content solely to provide the service to you and your group members.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any content you upload, including receipt images and information about other group members.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use Pinch Split for any unlawful purpose
• Upload false, misleading, or fraudulent receipt or expense data
• Attempt to access another user's account or data without authorization
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure
• Use automated systems to access the service in a manner that exceeds reasonable use
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms.

Receipt Scanning and AI Processing

Pinch Split uses AI to extract items, prices, tax, and tip from receipt images so your group can split a bill quickly. When you scan a receipt, we send the image to OpenAI and/or Google Gemini (via OpenRouter) for that purpose only. AI results are not perfect — you are responsible for reviewing extracted amounts before splitting or requesting payment. Pinch Split is not liable for errors in scanned or calculated amounts.

We use these providers' APIs under their published terms, which state that API data is not used to train their models. Links to those policies are in our Privacy Policy.

By uploading a receipt, you authorize us to process that image through these providers solely to provide scanning and splitting.

Third-Party Services

Pinch Split integrates with third-party services including Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, Supabase, OpenAI, OpenRouter (to access Google Gemini), and payment apps such as Venmo and Cash App. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or for payments made outside Pinch Split.

Intellectual Property

Pinch Split, including its name, logo, design, and software, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding except as needed to use the service.

Disclaimers

Pinch Split is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations will always be accurate.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pinch Split and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars ($50).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pinch Split from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

Termination

You may stop using Pinch Split at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will remain in effect.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms in the app or on our website and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Pinch Split after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in California, except where prohibited by applicable law.
